“Rocky Horror Picture Show” Midnite Saturday 9/1 “Safety Not Guaranteed” & “Celeste and Jesse Forever” Open Friday August 31; Burt Lancaster in “The Leopard” is the Final Film in the Summer Classic Series (But wait, there’s more…)

From the producers of Little Miss Sunshine: Safety Not Guaranteed.  When an unusual classified ad inspires three cynical Seattle magazine employees to look for the story behind it, they discover a mysterious eccentric named Kenneth, a likable but paranoid supermarket clerk, who believes he’s solved the riddle of time travel and intends to depart again soon. Together, they embark on a hilarious, smart, and unexpectedly heartfelt journey that reveals how far believing can take you. trailer

Celeste and Jesse Forever is a shrewd romantic-comedy that benefits from its likable cast and trumpets the arrival of Rashida Jones as a bona fide big screen talent. Celeste (Rashida Jones) and Jesse (Andy Samberg) met in high school, married young and are growing apart. Now thirty, Celeste is the driven owner of her own media consulting firm, Jesse is once again unemployed and in no particular rush to do anything with his life. Celeste is convinced that divorcing Jesse is the right thing to do — she is on her way up, he is on his way nowhere, and if they do it now instead of later, they can remain supportive friends. trailer

The final entry in the 2012 Summer Classics Film series is the 1963 film, The Leopard. Arguably Luchino Visconti’s best film and certainly the most personal of his historical epics, The Leopard chronicles the fortunes of Prince Fabrizio Salina and his family during the unification of Italy in the 1860s. Burt Lancaster is magnificent in the first of his patriarchal roles, and the rest of the cast, especially Delon and Cardinale, become almost perfect incarnations of the novel’s characters. Filmed in glorious Techniscope and rich in period detail, the film is a remarkable cinematic achievement in all departments. trailer Many thanks to WUKY-FM for their support in bringing you this series.

And while our summer series draws to a close, Wednesday evenings will remain special as we bring you the Rosa Goddard 2012 International Film Festival, sponsored by Sqecial Media. This year’s films include Band of Outsiders on Sept 12, Diva on Sept 19, Knife in the Water on Sept 26 and Weekend on Oct 3.
